113th Street was semi-regularly updated from 2003 until 2008.  It is now no longer active.  When it was active, the “About” page read as follows:

Hi, my name is James Hare. I’m a graduate student in the Department of Religion at Columbia University. 113th Street is my blog as well as my former address in New York City. 113th Street, the blog, consists of whatever I’m interested in at any given moment.

I hope to use this space to work out my thoughts, so you should not put too much weight on what I write here. The writing here will be more along the lines of an utterance made in a seminar than a paper presented at a conference. In other words, I am seeking to clarify my thought in an open forum in the hopes that any dubious or incorrect statements that I make will be challenged and thus refined or corrected. Thank you for taking the time to read my misguided and ill informed ramblings. I look forward to hearing your reactions to them.

Caitlin Cox, my partner, is also an occasional contributor to 113th Street. Her posts tend to be more amusing and less obnoxious than mine.
